About
William McMahon is a semi-ordinary computer geek who took his first computer apart at age six. By day he is a Cisco network engineer and by night a video game fanatic. His interests include computer networks, video games, the Valve games, community modding, and drum and bass.
Williams first love for video games began when he frequently visited his next door neighbour to play FPS classics like Doom and Quake. On DOS he played games like the original Prince of Persia until he got his first Windows 95 machine and got into games like Tomb Raider and the original Command and Conquer. Upon the release of Half-Life in '98 he quickly fell in love with the modding community and landed a journalism job at halflife.org. He has written guest articles for Planet Half-Life and Mod DB. William ran a community server organization called Sveney!!! which enabled players to host gaming servers for many different mods and community creations. In late 2008 William started Podcast 17 along side Phillip from PlanetPhillip. He has interfaced with many big players in the modding sphere and Podcast 17 has become the premiere audio podcast for Half-Life and Valve modding community news and features.
In real life William works as a Cisco Engineer currently pursuing his CCIE and works for telecoms in Canada. He is proficient in routing, switching, security, data storage and wireless networks. He received his undergrad in Computer Science from Windsor Ontario and his masters in Engineering at Ryerson University in Toronto.
William lives happily with his fiancée Stephanie in Toronto Ontario Canada.
